Maharashtra: Mihir Kotecha, BJP Candidate From Mumbai North East Constituency

Edited by Hiba Anvar

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Mihir Chandrakant Kotecha as the party’s candidate from the Mumbai North East constituency. Mihir’s name has been included in the second candidate list of the saffron party. The second list of BJPs consists of 72 candidate names that will be contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Mihir Kotecha has earlier served as the BJP Vice President of Mumbai and has also been an ex-BJP Mumbai Youth Wing President. In the 2019 assembly election, Mihir won from the Mulund assembly constituency by securing 87,253 votes.

Mihir has been given the ticket instead of Manoj Katok from North East Mumbai. And this has shocked a few BJP leaders as Manoj’s work during the last five years has been commendable.

Mihir Kotecha is a member of the 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and he represents the Mulund assembly constituency. He also serves as the treasurer of Maharashtra State BJP.

Earlier in 2022, the BJP MLA of Mulund has come ahead raising the issue of potholes in the city. He launched a pothole yathra in Mulund and called upon the engineers of the road department and got the potholes fixed in the area.

As part of beautifying the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Cooperation has erected selfie points at various of the city under the theme ‘I Love Mumbai’ and such. However, Mihir erected the selfie points and added his name. Though BMC has instructed the BJP leader to remove his name but refused to do so.
The BJP has announced the list of 20 candidates in Maharashtra. Compared to the last time, 6 out of 20 new faces have been given a chance.
