Priyanka Gandhi Warns Against BJP Conspiracy To Change Constitution

Edited by Dileep Kumar S

Balod (Chhattisgarh), April 21: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi today warned against the conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)to change the constitution of the country. Addressing a public rally here today, she pointed out how so many BJP leaders across the country were speaking in the same tone that the party needs 400 seats so that it is able to change the constitution.

She told the people not to go by denials and clarifications of the Prime Minister that the constitution will not be changed. She observed, this was typical of the BJP’s working to get the issues raised from the periphery through junior leaders and deny the same initially if there was an opposition, and the moment they got a chance, they implemented these things later.

She said, people do not have any idea what it would result in if the BJP was allowed to change the constitution. She said, all the rights, privileges and opportunities, which most people take for granted are all because of the constitution only.

The Congress leader urged people to think and apply their mind thoroughly before casting their votes, while pointing out how the prices of all things had skyrocketed. She pointed out, how difficult it was for the common man to make both ends meet, while referring to the prices of eatables, gas cylinders, diesel and petrol.

She also referred to the massive and widespread unemployment prevailing in the country.

Without taking the Prime Minister’s name, Priyanka Gandhi pointed out how the media would go out of way to show a particular leader performing puja.

She said, religion is a matter of personal faith and should not be used for political purposes. She said, even her grandmother Ms Indira Gandhi used to perform puja, but she would always do it privately in her ‘puja room’ without making any public display of it.

Debunking the claims of honesty of the Prime Minister, the Congress general secretary referred to the Electoral Bonds scheme, which was held illegal by the Supreme Court of India. She pointed out how the BJP had raised thousands of crores of rupees through the Electoral Bond scheme.

Confronting the BJP leaders over the allegations of promoting a “family”, Ms Gandhi said, if Ms Indira Gandhi cared only for her family, people wouldn’t be remembering her even after 40 years of her assassination. She said her family could have easily lived a comfortable life, but it was the sentiment of service for the nation that keeps them going.

She reminded that sons and other relatives of different leaders have been inducted by the BJP. “The moment somebody’s relative joins the BJP, the family promotion charge is forgotten”, she taunted the BJP.
