Former India captain MS Dhoni had filed a criminal case against his ex-business partner Mihir Diwakar, leading to his arrest in Jaipur on Tuesday.

Diwakar was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 406, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120B. According to various media reports, the complaint was lodged at the District Court in Ranchi against Aarka Sports Management, where Diwakar was a director.

Following the complaint, Diwakar was taken into custody by the Jaipur police upon allegations of unauthorized usage of MS Dhoni’s name to establish a cricket academy in Jaipur.

Dhoni had revoked the authority of Aarka Sports Management Pvt. Ltd. on August 15, 2021, but despite that Diwakar continued to use his name for operations in India and abroad. The director, allegedly, accepted franchise fees for academies named the MS Dhoni Cricket Academy and MS Dhoni Sports Academy, which led to a purported fraud of INR. 15 crore.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said that the case stemmed due to fraudulent activities related to usage of MS Dhoni’s in the Gandhi Path area, Jaipur. The director went on to collect funds despite Dhoni withdrawing authorization for the use of his name.
