T20 World Cup 2024: MS Dhoni Relives World Cup Memories At BCCI Headquarters

Written by Timeline Sports Desk

Former India captain MS Dhoni, who is in Mumbai for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash against Mumbai Indians, relived his World Cup memories as he was pictured with the coveted trophy at the Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) headquarters on Saturday.

In a picture posted by BCCI on their official social media handle, Dhoni was seen adjusting the World Cup trophy on the stand. The BCCI captioned the picture as “MS Dhoni 🤝 World Cup Trophy Made for each other❤️”.

Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, remains the only captain to win three ICC trophies in the limited overs tournament. Under his captaincy, Team India won the T20 World Cup in its inaugural edition in 2007, 50-over World Cup in 2011, and Champions Trophy in 2013.

The picture brought back a lot of memories for the fans, with one of them saying, “Petition to BCCI to take a picture of MS standing next to all 3 ICC trophies he won as leader”.

“MS Dhoni is all time Greatest White ball captain in Indian cricket,” another fan said.

“Dhoni finishes off in style. A magnificent strike into the crowd. India lift the World Cup after 28 years. The party starts in the dressing room and it’s an Indian captain who’s been absolutely magnificent on the night of the final,” a third fan recalled.

Earlier, in the ongoing season of the IPL, Dhoni stepped down as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain and passed on the baton to opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. It is largely speculated that this is his farewell season in the lucrative tournament.
