MS Dhoni, who is in the twilight zone of his career, remains the go-to figure for his squad despite handing over the captaincy to Rututaj Gaikwad ahead of the IPL season. He also remains a cult figure in South India and has been increasing the decibel level at Chennai”s Chepauk Stadium.
Meanwhile, one of his fans splurged INR 64,000 to watch him live in Chennai along with his three daughters. He bought the tickets in black only to witness the former CSK captain in action as he couldn”t get hold of them through online booking options.
“I didn”t get the tickets, so I bought them in black. It was a total of Rs 64,000. I am yet to pay the school fees. But we wanted to see MS Dhoni just once. My three daughters and I are very happy,” the father told Sportwalk Chennai as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“My father has worked very hard to get these tickets. We were very happy when Dhoni came to play,” one of the fan”s young daughters said.
I don't have money to pay the School Fees of my children, but spent Rs 64,000 to get black tickets to watch Dhoni, says this father. I am at a loss for words to describe this stupidity. pic.twitter.com/korSgfxcUy

Earlier, Dhoni extended the record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in T20s during the IPL 2024 clash against Delhi Capitals. He achieved the feat when Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw caught an outside edge of CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the 11th over.
Incidentally, the CSK veteran is the only wicketkeeper to record this milestone in the shortest format. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Dinesh Karthik and former Pakistan player Kamral Akmal are joint-second on the list with 274 dismissals. The list includes former South Africa captain Quinton de Kock (270) and England T20 captain Jos Buttler (209).
