Mini has unveiled the new Cooper John Cooper Works (JCW) based on the new generation Cooper revealed earlier this year. The performance hatch is available in both hard-top and convertible rooftops. Besides sportier looks, the Cooper JCW also gets spicier performance under its hood. This comes with a 2-door layout and performance on tap in comparison to the standard Cooper S.
Interiors and Exterior Features
The interiors of the Cooper JCW mirrors its exterior with an all-black cabin with contrast red highlights that with sports seats upholstered in black synthetic leather and red accent stitching. It comes with host of features like a 9.4-inch central OLED display, a Harman Kardon sound system, stainless steel pedals, four surround-view cameras, and a JCW-specific sports steering wheel. A variety of exterior colour schemes with contrasting red accents on the bonnet, roof, ORVMs, and brake callipers adda a touch of sporty appeal. The front grille, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, headlamp bezels, and pillars have also been finished in gloss black along with the “MINI” badging on the hood which gets a dark chrome treatment.
The rear has triangular LED taillamp clusters with Union Jack internals, connected by a piano black strip and gloss black diffuser with an exhaust outlet at the centre. A total of 11 shades are on offer with Mini Cooper JCW. The Convertible allows buyers to combine an exclusive Copper Grey exterior finish with either a black or a contrasting grey Union Jack pattern for the soft top.
Mini Cooper JCW is powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that does the job similar to standard Cooper S but in the JCW this motor churns out 228 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque which is slightly higher than the earlier model. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. There are paddle shifters positioned behind the steering wheel for more driving pleasure and convenience. The Mini Cooper JCW can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds for the hard-top version and 6.4 seconds for the convertible variant. The hard-top variant is quicker than the convertible, reaching out at maximum speed of 250 kmph whereas the latter reaches a top speed of 245 kmph.
