During a recent global investor’s meeting in Seoul a few days ago, Kia presented its product roadmap for the upcoming five years. The company’s business plan focused on electrifying its range of products, which included hybrid and completely electric versions. By 2030, Kia wants to have 25% of its sales in India originate from hybrid vehicles and 18% from electric vehicles.

The South Korean automaker is already developing a second-generation Seltos, as is well known. Several times throughout the last several months, prototypes of the same have been sighted. It has now been revealed that Kia will introduce a gasoline hybrid drivetrain for the second-generation Seltos. Later this year, the new generation Kia Seltos will have its world premiere, and it is anticipated that it will arrive in India sometime next year. Kia has not yet released any precise information on the new Seltos, but we can anticipate that it will have a potent hybrid drivetrain that is most likely paired with a 1.5-liter naturally occurring gasoline engine.

The second-generation Seltos will still feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, but the 1.5-liter diesel engine is in doubt due to stringent pollution regulations. In parallel, Kia is creating a three-row SUV for India based on the Seltos, which is also anticipated to profit from the forthcoming petrol hybrid drivetrain.

The new-generation Kia Seltos will get a major design overhaul, as seen by recent spy photos. Notable cosmetic changes include dual-tone alloy wheels, updated ORVMs, and new LED headlights with a distinctive light signature. Its revised grille, which draws inspiration from the flagship Kia SUV, the Telluride, which is available for purchase in North America, will be the most noticeable feature, though.

EVs make up just over 1% of Kia’s current portfolio in India, which is dominated by internal combustion engine (ICE) automobiles. Nonetheless, the company is making a concerted effort to increase its electric footprint. Later this year, the Carens EV will go on sale, and in 2026, the Syros EV will follow. Both vehicles are intended for the mainstream market in order to increase sales. In order to increase its market share in the high-end electric car market, Kia also recently unveiled the redesigned EV6 in India.
