Volkswagen Has Brought Third-Gen Tiguan To India With Range-Topping R-Line Form
At an introductory price of Rs 49 lakh, the most recent generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan has been introduced in India. The third-generation Tiguan, which is Volkswagen India’s flagship SUV, will only be available here in a single R-Line version and in restricted supply as a full CBU (completely built unit) import.
Naturally, the Tiguan R-Line looks very different from the outgoing Tiguan because it is a newer generation car. The Tiguan R-Line features slimmer headlights up front with an LED strip connecting to them, and a huge mesh-patterned air dam with a silver lip down below. Due to the sporty nature of Volkswagen’s R-Line versions, the Tiguan’s fascia uses very little chrome.

On the other hand, the Tiguan R-Line has a rather simple body covering and 19-inch alloy wheels. In contrast, the rear has a roof spoiler above and a sizable light bar with a smoked look. Cipressino Green Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Oyster Silver Metallic, and Persimmon Red Metallic are the six available colors for the SUV.
The interior of the Tiguan R-Line is entirely black, with blue accents on the sports seats and dashboard. The climate control features and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are integrated into a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system located atop the center console. A 10.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster is located farther ahead, and a three-spoke steering wheel with the letter “R” badged on it sits directly in front of the driver.

The Tiguan R-Line also has a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, brushed stainless steel pedals, wireless charging for up to two phones, a panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS, among other cool features. Volkswagen’s Park Assist Plus technology, which can find appropriate parking spots and perform parking maneuvers without the driver’s assistance, is also installed in the India-spec Tiguan R-Line.
Volkswagen’s Tiguan R-Line is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates a robust 204 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. With a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission distributing this force to all four wheels, the Tiguan R Line can reach a high speed of 229 kph and complete the 0-100 kph run in 7.1 seconds. Volkswagen also states that the Tiguan R-Line has a fuel efficiency of 12.58 kpl.
The Tiguan R-Line, which retails for Rs 49 lakh, is almost Rs 11 lakh more costly than the previous model, which was introduced through the CKD (completely knocked down) procedure. In terms of rivals, the Tiguan R-Line is comparable to entry-level luxury SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, and BMW X1. In the Tiguan R-Line’s pricing range, all-electric SUVs such as the BMW iX1 LWB and BYD Sealion 7 are also viable options.
