Audi Unveils Q6 e-Tron Performance: Rear-Wheel Drive Variant with Enhanced Range

Audi has expanded its Q6 e-Tron electric SUV lineup by introducing a new, more efficient variant—the Q6 e-Tron Performance. This rear-wheel-drive model is designed to offer a greater range compared to its all-wheel-drive counterparts, positioning itself as an entry-level offering within the Q6 e-Tron range. The Q6 e-Tron initially debuted globally in March this year, with its market launch anticipated later in the year.

What’s New in the Q6 e-Tron Performance?

The standout feature of the Q6 e-Tron Performance is its rear-wheel-drive configuration, which is powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery (94.9 kWh net). This setup drives a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, delivering an impressive range of 641 km on a single charge according to WLTP standards. This range exceeds the all-wheel-drive variant by 16 km, making it a more efficient option for drivers prioritizing longer travel distances without frequent recharging.

Despite its increased range, the Q6 e-Tron Performance has a slightly lower power output compared to the all-wheel-drive Q6 e-Tron Quattro and the SQ6 models. The single rear-mounted motor produces 240 kW (322 bhp), while the Quattro and SQ6 models deliver 382 bhp and 510 bhp, respectively. Performance-wise, the Q6 e-Tron Performance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. Additionally, Audi boasts that 260 kilometers of range can be added in just 10 minutes using an appropriate fast charger.

What’s Unchanged in the Q6 e-Tron Performance?

Aside from the new rear-wheel-drive powertrain, the Q6 e-Tron Performance remains largely identical to its siblings in terms of design and features. The exterior and interior designs are consistent across the range, maintaining the sleek and modern aesthetic that Audi is known for.

Inside, the Q6 e-Tron Performance features a sophisticated triple-screen dashboard layout. This includes a 14.5-inch central curved touchscreen infotainment display, an 11.9-inch driver’s instrumentation display, and a 10.9-inch infotainment unit for the front passenger. These screens provide an intuitive and engaging user experience, ensuring that drivers and passengers alike have access to all necessary information and entertainment options. These high-tech offerings ensure that the Q6 e-Tron Performance stays current with the latest advancements and functionalities.

Market Availability

The Q6 e-Tron’s all-wheel-drive variants are set to begin deliveries in August this year, with the India launch anticipated next year. As for the Q6 e-Tron Performance, its specific launch date in India has yet to be confirmed. However, given its enhanced efficiency and competitive positioning, it is expected to attract significant interest from Indian consumers when it does arrive.

The introduction of the Q6 e-Tron Performance variant highlights Audi’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup with options that cater to a variety of consumer needs. By offering a rear-wheel-drive model with enhanced range and maintaining the high standards of technology and design, Audi continues to improve its position in the growing electric SUV market.
