Bajaj Auto is accelerating its efforts in alternative fuel options, developing a new CNG motorcycle targeted at the entry-level commuter segment. Emphasizing clean and renewable energy, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer also intends to display ethanol-powered two-wheelers and three-wheelers. the company plans to broaden its CNG range following the launch of the Freedom 125 CNG in July of this year.
New CNG motorcycle and Ethanol vehicles
During the launch of the Freedom 125 CNG, Bajaj Auto announced its intention to expand the CNG motorcycle range, targeting the 100cc segment. Although the Hero Splendor remains dominant in this entry-level commuter category, Bajaj is set to challenge with its own 100cc CNG motorcycle. Considering the Splendor+ is priced from competively, ex-showroom, Bajaj’s new 100cc CNG model will need competitive pricing to significantly penetrate this market segment. As of now, Bajaj Auto has not disclosed a launch timeline for this motorcycle.

Bajaj Auto confirmed that the company will unveil the ethanol vehicles lineup next month in Delhi. Bajaj Auto will showcase both two-wheelers and three-wheelers and launch them in this financial year. The company is close to achieving monthly sales of 1 lakh clean energy units by this festival season.
Bajaj Auto’s move to expand motorcycle lineup is aimed at more CNG-powered motorcycle models to cater to the demand for eco-friendly and cost-effective transportation solutions. These models are fuel efficient and contribute to reduced emissions. The iconic Bajaj Chetak will see additional variants designed to offer more choices to customers, enhancing the appeal of the range with improved features and customization options with CNG options.
After the success of the CNG bike, Bajaj Auto will also introduce ethanol-powered motorcycles to expand bikes with sustainable fuel options and increase its portfolio, promoting the adoption of alternative fuels. This is an opportune time due to festival season. This way, Bajaj Auto aims to attract customers with innovative features and eco-friendly options during the upcoming festival season, boosting sales and expanding its customer base.

Bajaj Auto had earlier launched the world’s first CNG bike in Pune, with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in attendance. The bike, named Freedom 125, will featured separate switches for petrol and CNG. It was previously speculated to be named ‘Bruzer’. The company aims to launch more such affordable CNG bikes, targeting value-conscious customers. CNG bikes reduce emissions significantly and can double mileage or halve the cost of fuel.
