BYD is all set to launch the facelifted e6 MPV in India with a new name “eMax 7”. The earlier avatar of the people’s mover was solely on offer for fleet operators, the upcoming model is expected to be offered to the private consumers as well. Prices of the new BYD e6 are expected to be announced in October. It is likely to be offered either as a fully-imported CBU model or a locally-assembled CKD model. The Chinese automaker has two offerings in the passenger vehicle (PV) space in the form of Atto 3 SUV and the Seal sedan. The MPV features reworked exterior styling making it more attractive even though the overall design will remain the same.

Upgrades expected

The updated exterior will involve a sleek new front , featuring full-LED headlamps with a distinctive LED DRL signature flanking the BYD branding at the centre. A satin trim element, adorned with the BYD monogram connects the headlamps. Meanwhile, the redesigned front bumper boasts more dynamic air vents and subtle chrome accents. The rear bumper has been refined, with the addition of chrome inserts. Although the vehicle’s profile remains largely unchanged, the e6 is expected to have a sleek new set of alloy wheels. The rear of the e6 facelift will also undergo some transformation, featuring expansive wraparound tail-lamps with intricate LED detailing, creating a striking visual statement.

Expected Engine specs

In the International market, BYD offers two battery options with the e6– a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420 km and a 71.8kWh unit with 530 km range. The India-spec model is expected to be offered with the latter only. This battery is expected to power an electric motor returning a peak output of 201 bhp and 310 Nm.
