Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is taking a steps towards sustainability by launching the CB300F flex-fuel motorcycle, priced at Rs 1.7 lakh, in Delhi. Flex fuel is a mixture of petrol and ethanol such as e10, e20, e85 and so on. The number signifies the percentage of ethanol blended with petrol and are stored in a common fuel tank. More and more nations are mandating the usage of a blended mix of petrol and ethanol. The Indian government has also been pushing this technology with a target of e20 by 2025-’26 which has necessitated the development of engines that are able to cope with this new fuel mixture. India’s first flex-fuel motorcycle, the Honda CB300F is now available at Honda’s BigWing dealerships by the last week of October 2024.

Honda CB300F Flex Fuel is eco-friendly?
India has been on a crusade to increase the content of ethanol and the target is to achieve 20 percent by 20 percent by 2025. According to Honda, the CB300F’s 293.52 cc engine is compliant with up to E85 fuel, which is 85 percent ethanol and 15 per cent petrol). The advantage of Ethanol blend fuel is that it produces lower carbon dioxide and other harmful greenhouse gases. Ethanol has a higher octane rating than standard petrol, hence, it offers better fuel economy and performance. The Government of India also sees this as an economic benefit as it reduces the dependence on imported oil and creates jobs in the domestic agriculture and manufacturing sectors.
Engine Specifications and feature rich
The Honda CB300F Flex Fuel churns out 24.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 25.9 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The Flex Fuel version produces an additional 0.5 bhp and 0.9 Nm over the standard petrol model. The powertrain is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 300F Flex Fuel retains the same hardware from the standard version like a 276 mm front disc, and 220mm disc at the rear and comes standard with dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle sits on 17-inch alloy wheels, a seat height of 789 mm and a ground clearance of 177 mm. The CB300F sports an upside-down gold-coloured front fork and a 5-step adjustable rear mono-shock set-up.

The CB300F Flex Fuel is packed with features like five brightness settings, a speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, two trip metres, gear indicator and a clock. It also features an Ethanol Indicator, which glows in case the vehicle is filled with higher ethanol content gasoline and is equipped with an assist slipper clutch and all LED lights including the indicators. The CB300F flex-fuel will be available in a single variant and two colour options — Sports Red and Mat Axis Grey Metallic. It is priced at Rs 1.7 lakh, Delhi.
