Kush Maini won the F2 Monaco GP Sprint Race spectacularly after starting in pole position. He is now the first Indian to experience triumph at the renowned street track. When the Safety Car was deployed on Lap 12 (to retrieve Joshua Duerksen’s vehicle), he was given some breathing room. After mastering the re-start, Maini managed to go far enough away from Mini to avoid DRS range. “This race wasn’t about going for the fastest lap, but rather about being consistent, not making mistakes, and just controlling the race, which I feel we did,” Maini said, adding that he was having some trouble with front locking and one of his brakes had fallen asleep.

He then defeated Mini by 3.705 seconds to win his second F2 sprint. This is also his first victory with his new squad, Dams, and it comes at a critical moment to give Maini more confidence following a challenging season debut. It’s still a victory at Monaco, even though it’s the Sprint Race and everyone wants to win the Feature. I never imagined I’d be here, winning in the second tier, when I was a little child from India playing Formula One on a PlayStation. Maini expressed her gratitude to the crew as well.

Many things have gone wrong, and we’ve had a really rough start. Although we had some influence over certain things and not others, this is a good start to the season because we still have a lot of work to do.With the victory, Maini rises to P13 in the standings. 54 points behind Alexander Dunne, the leader.
