Premium MPV Alternative To Kia Carens Is Kia Carens Clavis; Price Starts At Rs 11.50 Lakh
Prices for the Kia Carens Clavis starts at Rs 11.50 lakh and go up to Rs 21.50 lakh (both ex-showroom, India). A day following its May 8 unveiling, reservations for the Kia MPV went live for a nominal Rs 25,000. The Clavis suffix denotes a more premium positioning, and the Carens Clavis will be offered for sale alongside the regular Carens.
The 2025 Clavis, which shares the same K2 platform as the Carens, is essentially a facelift of the Carens. The inverted L-shaped DRLs are connected by a new light bar, and the triple-pod headlights are similar to the Kia EV5’s. It also comes with a faux-metal bash plate.

Although the new model’s overall design is similar to that of the Carens MPV in profile, the plastic cladding along the doors and wheel arches gives it an SUV-like appearance. The Kia Clavis’s door handles are no longer chrome-finished, and it has larger 17-inch alloy wheels with a new design. It has a spoiler-mounted stop lamp, a reworked bumper with faux metal trim, and sharper LED taillights connected by a brand-new light bar at the back.
Configurations with six seats (captains sit in the second row) and seven seats are available. Twin 12.3-inch screens—a touchscreen and a multi-information driver’s display—are installed on the dashboard, which has a blue-and-beige design. It’s interesting to note that the 8-inch infotainment system found on the lesser Clavis HTX trims has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the larger unit found on the top trims does not. The climate and media settings are operated by a touch-sensitive, switchable panel beneath the central air vents. Only the driver’s seat has electronic adjustment, but the front seats have air conditioning.

Additional features include an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a wireless charger, an air purifier, a panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters (exclusive to DCT), drive modes (eco, normal, and sport), USB ports and AC vents for the second and third rows, Boss mode for the co-driver’s seat (similar to the Hyundai Alcazar), and a one-touch-tumble-plus-fold feature for the left-hand side seat in the second row.
Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera system are two safety features that the Carens lacked but are included in the Carens Clavis. Features including rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring were helpful. Additionally, standard safety features include all-four disc brakes, ABS, hill-start assist, TPMS, and six airbags. However, the Clavis also adds iMT, DCT, and AT units, in contrast to the Carens, which is now only available in MT. However, competitors like the XL6, Ertiga, and Rumion still do not offer CNG. With a stated maximum mileage of 19.4 kpl, the Clavis diesel is the most fuel-efficient vehicle. It is followed by the NA petrol at 15.34 kpl and the turbo-petrol at 16.66 kpl.
