Land Rover Defender Octa Price Starts At Rs 2.59 Crore, The Range-Topper

The starting price of the Land Rover Defender Octa in India is Rs 2.59 crore. The Defender’s most potent and off-road-focused model to date is the top-of-the-line Octa; the Mercedes-AMG G63 is its closest competitor. For Rs 2.79 crore, Land Rover is also offering an Edition One version of the Defender Octa, which is even more off-road focused. The Edition One, however, will only be accessible during the initial year of manufacturing.

Only available in the 110 body type, the Octa’s flared wheel arches, wider grille, updated front bumper, and increased ground clearance give it a meaner appearance than the Defender. It has unique 22-inch wheels with all-season tires on the side (Edition One has 20-inch wheels with off-road tires) and “Octa” badges on the C-pillars. The top and tailgate are gloss-black in color.
Land Rover offers the Defender Octa in four exclusive colors—Carpathian Grey, Charente Grey, Faroe Green, and Petra Copper—to further increase its exclusivity. Additionally, these are available with matte finishes that come with a protective film.

With the exception of a few new features including a larger 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather upholstery, and a mini-fridge under the center console, the Defender Octa’s interior is comparable to that of other SUVs. But there has been a significant improvement made to the chairs.
New performance seats with a 3D-knit texture, built-in headrests, and more supportive bolstering are available for the Octa. Additionally, the SUV’s infotainment system plays music that causes the seats to vibrate in time with Land Rover’s Body and Soul Seat audio technology.

Claimed to be the most capable Defender off-road, the Octa sports a new 6D Dynamics suspension system that nullifies the need for a physical anti-roll bar by hydraulically interlinking the dampers. According to Land Rover, it enables greater wheel articulation when driving off-road and “virtually eliminates” pitch and body roll.

Longer and stronger wishbones, improved underbody protection, a custom drive setting with off-road launch mode, a 28mm increase in ground clearance to 319mm, and the most sensitive steering rack of any Defender to date are further features of the Octa.
Together with the revised front and rear bumpers, these improvements help the Defender Octa outperform the conventional Defender 110 by increasing its maximum approach angle by 2.5 degrees, departure angle by 2 degrees, breakover angle by 1.1 degrees, wading depth by 100mm, and maximum articulation by 139mm.

Land Rover has adjusted the Defender Octa’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid engine to produce 635 horsepower and 750 Nm, which may be raised to 800 Nm when using the off-road launch mode. The Defender Octa and the Range Rover share same engine. With the mill coupled to an 8-speed automated gearbox that distributes power to all four wheels, the Defender Octa can reach a high speed of 250 kph and complete the 0-100 kph run in 3.8 seconds. On the other hand, the Edition One can only go as fast as 160 kph.
