Mercedes-Benz G 580 With EQ Technology Will Be The First India Launch For 2025

The all-electric G-Wagon, also known as the G 580 with EQ technology, will be Mercedes-Benz’s first 2025 model to be showcased. With its electric drivetrain and the renowned G-Class’s toughness, the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology offers the best of both worlds. The legendary G-Class makes an audacious electric leap! The G 580, a Mercedes-Benz masterpiece of elegance, power, and sustainability, will be unveiled in India on January 9, 2025. Based on a ladder-frame chassis, this tallboy SUV has class-leading torque management for a buttery smooth ride, the ground-breaking G-Turn for 360° spins, and AWD for improved off-road capability. With its remarkable WLTP range efficiency, the EQG’s production specification reimagines what it means to dominate trails while preserving opulent style in an environmentally responsible manner.

The Look

With hints of electric power, the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology keeps the boxy look of the classic G-Wagon. The blanked-out front grille with the three-pointed star emblem and an illuminated border is the most obvious feature. The headlamp housing is optional, and the grille has horizontal slats.

A higher bonnet for improved aerodynamics, air curtains for the alloy wheels, minor adjustments to the A-pillar cladding, and a rear spoiler are other design modifications. Consumers have the option of having a box to hold the charging wires or having the spare wheel installed at the back. The cockpit is familiar, with two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, a grab grip positioned on the dash for the passenger, and an MBUX infotainment system.

Tech Specs

The 116kWh battery pack and three electric motors in the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology generate 580 horsepower and an incredible 1,164 Nm of torque. Mercedes says it can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds, but its maximum speed is electronically limited at 180 kmph. With a 200kW DC fast charger, it takes 32 minutes to charge the battery pack from 10 to 80%, and it can go 473 kilometres when fully charged.

However, don’t be fooled by the electrified appearance; the G-Wagon still has off-road capability. With a water-wading capacity of 850mm, the vehicle may approach, leave, and break over at angles of 32, 30.7, and 20.3 degrees. There is ample ground clearance of 250 mm to handle anything on or off which makes it a must buy SUV.
