In India, Mercedes-Benz has said that all of its models would see price increases starting on January 1, 2025. The German brand announced a price increase of up to 3%, although it’s unclear if this increase would apply to the whole lineup. The new increase, according to the business, is the result of increased logistical costs and rising commodity prices brought on by ongoing inflationary pressures that have put a heavy burden on Mercedes’ overall operating costs in India. A portion of the cost pressure to operate a sustainable firm will be relieved by this pricing adjustment. With the most recent price increase, entry-level vehicles like the GLC will see increases of up to Rs 2 lakh and up to Rs 9 lakh.
Over the last three quarters, Mercedes-Benz India has been absorbing the increase in operating costs as a result of the combination of growing input costs, inflation, and increased operational expenditures. This time around, the German firm said, the increase was caused by rising input and logistics expenses as well as the Rupee’s declining value in relation to the Euro. Increasing logistics and input expenses also contributed to the most recent price increase. Mercedes-Benz added that although it will bear the majority of these expenses, it will transfer some of them to customers.

A “nominal” amount of the cost pressures is being passed on to the market, while the majority is being “absorbed.” For the next year, Mercedes-Benz is the first automaker to announce a price increase. Other Indian automakers are anticipated to follow suit, particularly in the luxury car market. The A-Class limousine costs Rs 46.05 lakh, while the AMG G63 G-Wagon costs Rs 3.60 crore. There are other Mercedes-Benz models as well. There are now 32 automobile models available in India from the German luxury automaker, including 14 SUVs, 12 sedans, 1 hatchback, 3 convertibles, and 2 coupes.

Mercedes-Benz India intends to increase prices by up to 3% starting in January 2025. The increasing pressures of inflation, exchange rate volatility, and mounting input and logistical expenses are reflected in this action. Some of these expenses are passed on to the customers, even if the company still bears the majority of them. While premium models may see far more significant price hikes, entry-level vehicles like the GLC and others may see price increases of up to ₹2 lakh. Being the first automaker to make such an announcement, Mercedes sets a standard for the high-end automotive market in India.
