New Toyota Electric Coupe SUV Reveal On March 11; Third EV From Toyota

Toyota has unveiled a teaser video and a single silhouette image of the e-SUV, demonstrating that the production vehicle has kept many of the concept’s features, such as the enlarged bonnet and sloped roofline. The front end incorporates Toyota’s new “hammerhead” design, while the rear has a lightbar.

It is comparable to the Chinese-market bZ3C fastback, which was unveiled at the Beijing auto show last year, but it also has some significant distinctions, such the appearance of the rear lights. This raises the possibility that it is a European version of the vehicle, albeit this has not been verified.

The bZ Compact SUV idea and the upcoming Toyota EV appear to be the same size. It was designed to compete with models like the Volvo C40 Recharge and Smart #1.The new EV is anticipated to be offered with a variety of battery capacities and engine configurations, similar to the smaller Urban Cruiser. For instance, the EV with the all-wheel-drive (AWD) emblem is seen in the video. AWD in the Urban Cruiser refers to a motor that is mounted on both axles and produces 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. This has a 400-kilometer range when combined with a 61kWh battery. The 49kWh pack powers the entry-level Urban Cruiser models, which are powered by a 144 horsepower front-mounted engine. Both variants have fast charging speeds.

The interior of the new EV is not seen in the teasers, although it is anticipated to resemble the Toyota C-HR rather than the Urban Cruiser. This implies that a digital instrument cluster, a raised center console, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system are all to be expected. Among other high-end features, top-spec models would probably come with a JBL sound system and a panoramic sunroof.

The new Toyota EV’s name is still a mystery. The model may now adopt the new Urban Cruiser name, however it was originally predicted to be designated the bZ3X, reflecting its reduced size in comparison to the larger bZ4X. Whether Toyota will introduce this new e-SUV to India is unknown. Conversely, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV prices are expected to be revealed in India later this year, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
