Nissan May Be Coming Up With Mid-Size SUV Kait In India By 2026

In Financial Year 2025–2026, Nissan India aims to launch a mid-size SUV and an economical MPV. While the Hyundai Creta-rivaling SUV is anticipated to make its debut in 2026, the MPV is scheduled to appear this year. The new Nissan SUV, which may be called Kait, will make its debut in Brazil first. Whether the Kait name will only be used in Brazil is yet unknown. The SUV, which will share a base with the upcoming Renault Duster, has not yet been teased by Nissan.

The upcoming Kait will not be positioned beneath the Kicks Play in Brazil, according to media reports. Nissan announced that the new SUV will be shipped to more than 20 countries, including Argentina and Mexico. The new SUV will be introduced in Asia, the business added. Spy photos of the camouflaged vehicle have surfaced, and the Kait has been doing test runs in Brazil. According to Moto1.com, the next-generation Kicks will appear in 2025, while the Kait is anticipated to be released the following year.

The substantially localized CMF-B platform for India, which the Duster and Renault’s seven-seater SUV, the Boreal, share, will serve as the foundation for the upcoming Nissan SUV. It has been established that a diesel version will not be available from Nissan or Renault. Therefore, a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is anticipated to power the new SUV.

The engine generates 152 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, according to the specifications accessible for the global market. Whether a manual option will be available has not yet been confirmed by the corporation. Actually, for the entry-level vehicle, Nissan also has the option to launch a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine.

Nissan is making a calculated move into high-demand markets with its next MPV and mid-size SUV for FY 2025–2026. With the CMF-B chassis and a powerful 1.3L turbo-petrol engine, Nissan’s Creta-rivaling SUV, probably called Kait, is set to appeal to both budget-conscious and performance-driven consumers. The lack of diesel options indicates a definite emphasis on gasoline. Pricing, features, and a smooth launch in cut throat marketplaces will determine success.
