With starting costs of Rs 44.72 lakh, the Toyota Fortuner mild hybrid has made its debut in India. Only the GR-S variation is more expensive than the new mild hybrid models, which are positioned high in the Fortuner’s range. Their respective mild-hybrid models cost Rs 2 lakh more than the Fortuner and Legender 4×4 AT models. The same 2.8-liter diesel engine with 204 horsepower and 500 Nm is now supported by a 48V hybrid system that consists of a lithium-ion battery and a belt-integrated starter generator.

In addition to improving fuel efficiency by enabling auto start-stop, the system is supposed to provide quieter driving and smoother low-end acceleration.

The features list has been upgraded, but the exterior (apart from a Neo Drive emblem) and interior (dually-toned leather upholstery, etc.) remain unchanged. In addition to seven airbags, traction control, hill climb and descent assistance, and ISOFIX mounts, the Neo Drive models also come equipped with a 360-degree camera.

With the introduction of the Toyota Fortuner mild hybrid, known as “Neo Drive,” the well-known SUV in the Indian market has taken a big stride forward. These versions fall into the upper echelon of the Fortuner lineup, with prices starting at Rs 44.72 lakh and the Legender mild-hybrid at Rs 50.09 lakh.

The new 48V mild-hybrid system, which is smoothly linked with the potent 2.8-litre diesel engine, is the main change. In response to changing consumer needs, this upgrade promises a quieter ride, smoother low-end acceleration, and increased fuel efficiency through auto start-stop.

A 360-degree camera expands its function set, improving convenience and safety, even though the exterior mostly stays the same except from the “Neo Drive” emblem. Toyota hopes to preserve the Fortuner’s market leadership by providing this mild-hybrid technology, which strikes a balance between improved efficiency and strong performance.

Strong anticipation for this revised, more sophisticated version of the adored SUV is evident from the fact that reservations are currently being accepted and delivery will start later this month.
