New BMW M2 CS Revealed With 530hp Inline Six; More Aggressively Styled, And Weighs Less
At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025, BMW unveiled the new M2 CS. Typical of what it implies in BMW jargon, the CS is a lighter, more performance-oriented M2 Coupe. It is noteworthy that this may be the last iteration of the brand’s junior sports car with a pure combustion engine.
The 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that powers the standard M2 is still present in the M2 CS, but it now produces 530 horsepower and 650 Nm, which is an increase of 50 horsepower and 100 Nm. This vehicle’s engine is exclusively paired to an automated 8-speed gearbox. Because BMW claims that the 6-speed MT that comes with the standard M2 isn’t designed to manage the greater torque figure, there isn’t a manual gearbox. BMW further supports its choice to only offer the automatic gearbox by stating that it has not observed significant demand for the manual. The M2 CS is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 3.8 seconds.

Putting more grunt aside, the CS package also includes weight-saving features, such as a carbon-fibre boot lid and roof. Thus, the CS’s 1,700 kg kerb weight is roughly 30 kg less than that of the standard M2.
Additionally, the M2 CS receives custom spring and damper tuning as well as stiffer engine mounts. Upgrades have also been made to the differentials, brakes, and steering. Additionally, BMW supplies the CS with an optional lightweight titanium M Performance exhaust that is tailored for this model and creates a “more aggressive soundscape,” according to the company. The ride height has decreased by 8mm as a result of the suspension adjustment.

The M2 CS features a slightly modified grille and air vents on the bumper to improve engine breathing, but it will take a sharp eye to notice the variations between the two models. Once more, a hallmark of CS design, the car’s side profile boasts new lightweight alloy wheels that are specially plated in gold. Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Velvet Blue are the four paint colours available for the CS. The new M2 CS’s most noticeable feature is a ducktail spoiler, which should increase stability at high speeds. A larger blown-out rear diffuser is also added to the vehicle.
New CS emblems on the seats and door sills, a new M-spec Alcantara steering wheel, and considerably sportier carbon bucket seats with M performance colour trim are all found inside the M2 CS. The CS still has creature comforts like a heated steering wheel, 3-zone climate control, a head-up display, and a Harman Kardon sound system despite its hardcore posture.
