The Minister for Electronics, IT/BT and Rural Development, Priyank Kharge, said that the decision was one of the demands of the people and was also a promise of the party in the manifesto. “Employees will see a 27.5% increase in salaries and it will benefit approximately 14 to 15 lakh state employees” the minister said.

It is believed that the chief minister would announce the pay hike for over seven lakh state government employees in the state in the assembly session.

It was reported that the pressure on the government to raise the wage escalated after the Karnataka State Government Employees Association announced its plan for an indefinite strike beginning in August, demanding pay hike.
