Adidas, the German sports footwear and apparel company, has signed an agreement to lease 45,000 sq of space for its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai. It will be the first office space by the company in Asia outside China.
According to reports, Adidas confirmed that the company signed the contract but didn’t disclose further details regarding this matter. The office is located on the Old Mamallapuram Road, which is considered the largest IT domain in the heart of the city. “We have opened a new rented office space in Chennai,” it stated in a report.

Currently, Adidas has a corporate office in Gurgaon, Haryana, but the company claims that the Chennai office will be its first GCC in Asia as reported. Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said that Chennai is emerging as a “premier choice” for research and business development centres in India.
There are several sports brands operating in Chennai City including UPS, Hitachi Energy, Udemy and so on. Adidas will be another sports brand that joins this chain setting up its debut in Chennai city. Earlier this year it was reported that the company was on a mission to set up its first GCC office in Asia and the development highlighted the growing urge to provide investments to make use of its software and capabilities within the country.

It was said that for the coming 5 years, the company desires to add better resources expecting its success in the city. This establishment by Adidas would contribute to global multinationals that extensively use GCC capabilities and striking innovations that benefit galore sectors worldwide.
