A five-year transformation roadmap has been prepared by Vihaan AI, which is Air India’s transformation plan, which in Sanskrit means dawn of a new era. The new plan is to focus on customer service, operations, technology, reliability, and hospitality. The presence in national and international market share is also aimed at. The unveiling of the new logo, the ‘Vista’ as part of transformation has been designed in partnership with Future Brand.

Some changes in the airline are a new website and mobile app to improve web experience with new digital tools and features; investment in building new lounges at Delhi and New York JFK airports. In a $400 million programme, the interiors of its legacy fleet of 43 wide body aircraft will also be totally refurbished. Moreover, Air India has also hired over 5,000 people as Cabin crew and Cockpit crew and some old aircraft would be taken off.

The airlines have also purchased 470 new aircraft in a multi-billion dollar which is to change its history altogether. The purchase agreement signed in June 2023, includes orders of 34 A350-1000, six A350-900, 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 10 Boeing777X wide body aircraft, 140 Airbus A320neo, 70 Airbus A321neo and 190 Boeing 737MAX narrow body aircraft.

As per some media sources, there are probabilities of Vistara and Air India being merged together as both the airlines are part of the same Group though the news could not be verified. Tata Group took control of Air India in January of the previous year as the airline’s net loss had increased by 19.16 per cent to Rs. 11,387.96 crore in the year 2022-23.
