Industrialist Nikhil Nanda, son-in-law of Bollywood’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, has been booked in a case of fraud and abetment to suicide by Uttar Pradesh’s Dataganj police.

As per reports, a case was registered based on a court directive that names Nikhil Nanda, Escorts Kubota Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), along with the firm’s Uttar Pradesh head, area manager, sales manager, a dealer from Shahjahanpur, and three other officials as accused in the matter.

They are accused of allegedly pressurizing the owner of Jai Kisan Traders, a tractor agency, Jitendra Singh, to take his own life.

Reports further detail that the complaint was filed by Gyanendra, a resident of Papad Hamzapur village and the brother of the deceased.

It is mentioned that initially, Singh managed the business with his co-partner, Lalla Babu. But due to a family dispute, Babu was jailed, leaving Singh handling the agency by himself.

Gyanendra alleged that Nanda, along with company officials Ashish Baliyan, Sumit Raghav (sales manager), Dinesh Pant (UP head), Pankaj Bhaskar (financier collection officer), Amit Pant (sales manager), Neeraj Mehra (sales head), and Shishant Gupta (Shahjahanpur dealer), repeatedly pressured Singh to boost sales.

The complaint claimed that the accused allegedly threatened to revoke Singh’s dealership license and auction his property if sales targets were not met. Stressed by the pressure, Singh reportedly shared his distress with his family and friends.

On November 21, 2024, the company officials allegedly visited him while intensifying the pressure. Fed up with this immense pressure, Singh took his own life the next day, November 22.

The deceased’s family claims that despite filing a complaint earlier, the police failed to take action until the court’s intervention. A case has now been registered against all the accused involved in the matter.

Singh’s father, Shiv Singh, told the media that he was unaware of the connection of Nikhil Nanda in the issue. But he also holds the company responsible for his son’s tragic death. He said, “I don’t know who he is. We want justice,” quoted ETV Bharat.

Nikhil Nanda is the son of Raj Kapoor’s daughter, Ritu Nanda. He is married to Shweta Bachchan, the daughter of Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. The couple has two children, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda.
