Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started a Sanskrit scholarship scheme at Sampurnanad Sanskrit University for students. As per the announcement made by CM Adityanath, scholarships worth Rs 586 lakh will be distributed to 69,195 students who are studying Sanskrit across the state.
CM also announced the removal of the age restriction to avail of the scholarship as earlier only 300 Sanskrit students were eligible for scholarships. “Previously, only 300 Sanskrit students were eligible for scholarships, and then there were age restrictions. But under the new initiative, benefits are being extended to all eligible students”.
While addressing the students at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the Sanskrit language is a ‘Dev Vaani’ along with being a scientific language that can be applied to modern fields such as computer science and artificial intelligence.

The UP CM encouraged students to open bank accounts to avail of direct and secure fund transfers.
Also Yogi Adityanath announced the government’s plan to revive the residential Gurukul-style Sanskrit schools across Uttar Pradesh. He said that these residential Gurukul-like institutions will receive special assistance in order to provide free accomodation and meals for students. The Gurukuls will also get autonomy to recruit qualified acharyas.
Additionally, govt is also planning to start a ‘Vedic Science Centre’ to promote the advanced research in the Sanskrit language, he said.
