Delhi High Court Dismiss Plea To Postpone CA 2024 Exam

The Delhi High Court dismissed the plea seeking revision of the dates of Chartered Accountants (CA) exam scheduled to be held in May and June. The CA aspirants filed a petition in response to the conduct of the examination during the election period arguing that some of the students will not be able to cast their votes as they live in distant places from their hometowns.

The court quashed the argument and expressed surprise over the filing of the petition. The High Court said that the petition is bereft of substance considering the aforesaid reasons. The court added that no exam is clashing with the voting dates and it asked students to balance their preparation and voting rights properly.

Here is the revised exam schedule by Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI):

  • CA intermediate group 1 will be held on May 3, 5, and 9 and group 2 will be held on May 11, 15, and 17.
  • Final exam Group 1 will be conducted on May 2, 4, and 8 and Group 2 of the CA Final exam will be held on May 10, 14, and 16.
  • CA exam for the foundation level will be held on June 20, 22, 24, and 26.

Initially, the CA Intermediate Exam 2024 was scheduled from May 3 to May 13 and the CA Final Group 1 and 2 exams were scheduled from May 2 to May 12. Later ICAI rescheduled the exams and the decision was opposed by the students, student activists, and CAs who have been demanding the postponement of the examination to dates after the elections.
