Education Minister Assures Strict Action Against Guilty In NEET Exam Case

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded to the NEET exam-related irregularities at the two locations in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test -Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 exam held on May 5, 2024. The education minister assured the students and their parents that the government had taken serious note of the issue.

Mr Pradhan acknowledged the required improvements within the National Testing Agency (NTA) and assured about the stern actions against those found guilty. He said, “No official, even those at the highest levels, will be spared if found guilty. Significant improvements are necessary within the NTA. I assure you that no accused will be spared and they will face the harshest punishment.”

The Union Minister said that an order had been issued for the re-examination of 1,563 candidates following the Supreme Court order, due to the irregularities reported at two centres. “I want to assure students and parents that the government is treating this matter very seriously. No culprit will be spared; they will face the harshest punishment.”

Earlier, the education minister had denied all the allegations due to the absence of any concrete evidence available with the authorities. But the opposition leaders remained critical of the central governments stand in the NEET exam case, since the alleged reports started coming in. The NTA and the education ministry are investigating the paper leak claims in Patna as the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested 13 people including four students and their family members.
