The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held its Convocation Ceremony on July 7, 2024, where 9,821 newly qualified Chartered Accountants received their membership certificates. The event, held simultaneously at 13 locations across India, also honored top rank holders of the CA examination.
Chief Guest Shri TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Aarin Capital & Manipal Global Education, addressed participants from Bangalore. He praised the new CAs for their achievement, highlighting the global presence of over 42,000 Indian CAs. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, embracing technology, excellent communication skills, and integrity in their professional journey.
“You have passed one of the toughest exams in the world and are joining a profession of over 400,000 Chartered Accountants who have brought laurels to themselves, to the institute, and to the country. You are now part of a global community, with 42,000 CAs practicing outside India. As you step out of this convocation, society will look at you with respect because you are leaders, professionals, and bearers of the brand CA. You are responsible for the financial health of the nation and must ensure that trust in your attestations remains unwavering,” he said.
ICAI President CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, speaking from Bengaluru, celebrated the milestone, noting ICAI’s growth from 1700 members in 1949 to over 400,000 in 2024. He encouraged the new CAs to explore various contemporary fields like forensic accounting and international taxation, beyond traditional roles.
Vice President CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, speaking from Delhi, highlighted ICAI’s legacy since its establishment in 1949. He called Chartered Accountants the “financial soldiers” of the nation, pivotal in driving economic growth, and acknowledged the support of their families.
ICAI’s convocation is a biannual event aimed at fostering a sense of belonging among the new members of the CA fraternity. The institute continues to adapt to changing needs, ensuring its members remain essential across various sectors of the economy through rigorous training and high-standard examinations.
