ICAI Reopens Application Window For CA Final, PQC Exams
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the national level body that conducts chartered accountants’ exams, had earlier announced a significant change to its examination schedule. From this year onwards, the Chartered Accountants Intermediate and Foundation exams will be held three times a year instead of the previous biannual schedule. As a result, the online application window for the September 2024 CA Intermediate and Foundation exams has been reduced from 28 days to 17 days. This adjustment is intended to accommodate the new exam dates and to ensure the timely completion of processes such as the finalisation of exam centres, evaluation of answer scripts, and prompt declaration of results.
This shortened application window will also apply to the CA Final and Post Qualification Course (PQC) exams scheduled for November 2024. The ICAI made this announcement on 18th July 2024, giving ample notice to prospective candidates for these exams.
Given that this is the first instance of the CA Final and PQC exams being affected by the reduced timeline, and in response to requests from students, the ICAI has decided to reopen the application window for the CA Final and PQC exams, including the Insurance and Risk Management (IRM) Technical Examination and the International Taxation – Assessment Test (INTT-AT). The window will be open for two days, from 11th September 2024 (11.00 AM) to 12th September 2024 (11.59 PM). Students submitting applications during this period will be required to pay a late fee of ₹600 or US$10.
The ICAI has made it clear that this reopening of the application process is a one-time measure and should not be anticipated in the future. Going forward, the 17-day application window will be applicable for all CA exams, and students are urged to adhere strictly to these deadlines.
