Prof. Naved Iqbal from the Department of Psychology at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi, has been awarded the prestigious British Academy Visiting Fellowship – 2025. As part of this fellowship, he will be hosted by the University of Bath, UK, where he will collaborate with Prof. Sarah Halligan on a research project titled “Support Available to Refugee Children and Their Families in India and the UK.” This project will explore comparative frameworks of support systems in both countries, focusing on the psychological, social, and institutional aspects that influence the wellbeing of refugee populations.

This fellowship adds to Prof. Iqbal’s impressive portfolio of international academic honors. He has previously been the recipient of several prestigious fellowships, including the Invitational Fellowship for Research in Japan – 2024 awarded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the Visiting Fellow – 2024 from Airlangga University in Indonesia, and the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Visiting Fellowship – 2019 at the University of Leicester, UK. These accolades reflect his sustained commitment to international academic collaboration and high-impact research.

In addition to these fellowships, Prof. Iqbal has served as a visiting professor at several renowned universities across the globe. These include St. Petersburg University, Russia, in 2025; Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan, in 2024; Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, Poland, in 2023; and Waterloo University, Canada, in 2018.

Prof. Iqbal has also secured a range of international research grants that underscore the significance of his scholarly contributions. Among these are the Directors of Associated Studies (DEA) Program – 2021 by the International Foundation of the House of Human Sciences, France; the GCRF Research Grant – 2019 from the University of Leicester, UK; the IndoGerman (UGC-DAAD, PPP – 2018-19) research project; and the IndoCanadian Shastri Research Grant (SRG – 2017-18).
