After JNU, Jamia, Now Delhi University VC Slams Turkey To Support Pakistan

Taking the lead from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia University, now University of Delhi has now joined the ‘Boycott Turkey’ calls.  University of Delhi Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh condemns Turkey for supporting Pakistan.

While speaking to ANI, the DU VC calls the Turkey siding with Pakistan during the India-Pakistan conflict as unfortunate.  “It’s very unfortunate for Turkey siding with Pakistan, and now they should be ready to pay the price”, Prof Singh said. “Why should we support Turkey, whether it is trade, emotions, or Tourism?” the Delhi University VC added.

Responding to the JNU terminating the MoU with Turkish University, the Delhi University VC said that he had confirmed with the International department whether DU has any MoU with Turkey, and also Turkish student is studying in the University or not. “If we had had any MoU with Turkey, we would definitely cancel it”, he said.

On May 14, 2025 JNU suspended an MoU with Inonu University, Turkey, over national security concerns after Turkey sided with Pakistn in the India-Pakistan conflict after Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Jamia Millia Islamia Unviersity, New Delhi also took the decision to suspend any MoU with institutions associated with Republic of Turkey, due to national security considerations. “Any MoU between Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi, and any institution affiliated with the Government of the Republic of Türkiye has been suspended with immediate effect, until further orders”, JMI said.
