Man Cheated Of ₹60 Lakh To Help Son Clear UPSC Exam
In an alleged case of fraud in Mumbai, police have arrested an accused and are searching for his accomplice for duping a hotelier of around Rs 60 lakh by falsely assuring him that they would help his son to clear the UPSC exam.
According to the police, the victim, Irashad Khan, owns a hotel in Malvani, and his son, Saddam Khan, is a commerce graduate. Saddam has failed the UPSC exam four times and is preparing again for the fifth attempt. Irshad met Yakub Sheikh, one of the accused, at his hotel, who claimed to be a CID officer and assured Irshad Khan that he could help Saddam clear the UPSC exam through his sources.

Yakub Sheikh then introduced Irshad Khan to Vijay Chaudhary, who claimed to manipulate the UPSC result in exchange for a fee. Vijay Chaudhary allegedly posed himself as the Delhi Commissioner and the Chief Officer of the UPSC over a phone call. After having been convinced by both of them, Irshad Khan paid a sum of Rs 60 lakh to the accused in multiple instalments through cash and online transfers.
After Saddam Khan’s UPSC result remained the same, the hotelier confronted the accused duo, who started giving excuses. They also cited his religion as a possible factor for his failure.
