CM M. K. Stalin Meets Students Who Brave All The Odds To Clear TN Board Exams

Chief Minister M.K.Stalin personally called Nanguneri student Chinnadurai who has faced caste-based abuse and A Nivetha, the only trans woman who succeeded in class 12th board exams. The Tamil Nadu board announced the class 12th result (HSC plus 2) on Monday, May 6, 2024.

The 17-year-old Chinnadurai who belongs to an SC community was threshed by three MBC community boys and has spent nearly four months in the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital (TvMCH). Defying all the odds Chinnadurai scored 469 marks (78.16%) in the class 12 exams.

Reportedly, Chinnadurai’s schoolmates hailing from an MBC community used to harass him and often asked him to buy cigarettes. While he complained to the school headmaster, the three students entered his house and hacked him injuring his sister also. Subsequently, with the support of collector K P Karthikeyan, Chinnadurai was admitted to another school.

Chinnadurai scored 94 marks in computer application, 93 in English, 85 in accountancy, 84 in commerce, 71 in Tamil, and 42 in economics. He wants to be a Chartered Accountant in future.

Similarly, A. Nivetha who was the only trans woman to write and clear the exam also broke the existing societal stereotypes. Shunned by her family at the age of 14 and adopted by the trans comm unity, the 20-year-old Ninevitha set for the NEET exam this year. With a dream to bag an MBBS seat under the 7.5% reservation for government school students, she wants to serve the poor and trans person. The Willingdon School also helped to reach to her dream as the special classes were conducted for Nivetha.

This year the TN HSE plus 2 overall pass percentage was 94.56% and girls outperformed boys in the class 12 result.
