'Modi Govt Is Tampering With The Constitution Through Textbooks': Kharge

Today, Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge while addressing the Parliament, raised questions over removing the Preamble of the Constitution from NCERT textbooks and sought clarification from the central government. The veteran leader took to social media ‘X’ and shared the questions raised in the Parliament today.

The Congress leader criticised the government and the BJP leader JP Nadda who refused to take cognizance of the matter and also tried to derail the whole issue.

Kharge shared 3 questions posed to the Modi government about the constitutionality of the matter and related concerns that include, “The statue of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi Ji and the Architect of the Constitution, Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar Ji was shifted to a corner of the Parliament without consulting the opposition, was this not against the basic spirit of the Constitution?”

Another question that followed this was about the ideological preference of BJP-RSS over the implementation of the Manusmriti instead of the constitution. “Is it not true that BJP-RSS, Jan Sangh, and their political forefathers strongly opposed the Constitution of India and the Indian Tricolor, even burnt copies of the Constitution, took out a rally against the Constitution in Ramlila Maidan and said that Manusmriti should have been implemented in India and not the Constitution?”, the Congress leader wrote.

The last question focused on the All-Indian Ram Rajya Parishad and the hypocrisy of the BJP regarding Ambedkar. Kharge asked, “Is it not true that in the 1951-52 Lok Sabha elections, the All India Ram Rajya Parishad, which the BJP considers its political ancestor, fielded its candidate against Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar? The All India Ram Rajya Parishad merged with the Jana Sangh in 1971. The Jana Sangh was later renamed as the BJP. The hypocrisy of the BJP regarding Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar is now well known.”

“This shows their hatred for the Constitution and their true character. The Indian National Congress will not allow this to happen at any cost”, he added.
