To the unstarred question by Dr. Bhola Singh in the parliament who asked whether the central government has reviewed the NCERT guidelines for 10 bagless days to promote joyful and experiential learning and whether it aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommendations, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Jayant Chaudhary replied.
In the reply, the minister of state said, that NEP 2020 recommends that all students of grades 6-8 will participate in the 10-day bagless period and get enrolled in skill education with local experts such as carpenters, gardeners, potters artists, etc.
The minister further adds that the government has developed guidelines for 10 bagless days in pursuance of the NEP recommendations that aim to provide students of classes 6 to 8, exposure to skill education through experiential learning pedagogy and make learning at school joyful and stress-free.

Under the guidelines given by the government ‘Bagless Days’ are encouraged throughout the year for various types of activities including
- arts, quizzes, sports and skills,
- periodic exposure to activities outside the school via visits to places or monuments which have histocial, cultural and tourist importance
- Meeting local artists and craftmaen
- Visits to other institutions in their village, Tehsil, Districts and State mapped by the authorities
“The guidelines are dyanmic and will be reviewed periodically based on the feedback from stakeholders and other developments”, the minister replied.
