This year’s National Eligibility -cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) NEET-UG registration surpassed the previous year’s registration numbers as nearly 22.79 lakh candidates have applied for the exam. The registration number is likely to go up as NTA has extended the NEET-UG registration deadline till March 16.

Earlier the last date to fill the application form was March 9. Candidates may visit the official website – neet.ntaonline.in to fill out the application form to appear for the MBBS entrance exam. Since February 9, 2024, people have been registering for the NEET (UG) – 2024 online application forms.

As per the official information, NTA decided to extend the date to the problem of linking the Aadhaar and payment of fee issues. Some candidates could not link it as they were waiting for the update of Aadhar. So, the decision was taken considering the requests from candidates to get additional time.

Concerning the registration during the extended period officials urged aspirants to apply early and not wait for the last date.

The NTA official informs that this year’s registration sees an additional 1.92 lakh more candidates than in 2023 applying for the NEET-UG. One of the significant observations in the registration process, as given in the TOI, is that more female candidates registered with over 12 lakh applications surpassing male registration of nearly 10 lakh.

Among the list of states, Uttar Pradesh received the highest number of registrations with a total of around 3.23 lakh candidates, followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu with 2.69 lakh, 1.9 lakh, and 1.47 lakh candidates respectively.

In terms of choice of examination city, Delhi remained the first center choice with 65,809 candidates followed by Patna (48,595) and Jaipur (46,190), informs NTA officials.
