NEET-PG 2024: 820 More Seats Added To All-India Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the seat matrix of the NEET-PG counselling process. As per the matrix, the total number of postgraduate seats in medical colleges has increased by 820. The seat increase is observed in all-India quota seats, deemed and central universities, DNB (Diploma of National Board), and diploma ones.

The maximum number of seat increments was observed in PG medical seats in deemed universities and DNB seats in the country. In DNB, a total of 494 seats were added, with 103 in general medicine, followed by 65 seats in orthopedics and 48 in general surgery. The maximum number of seats in DNB are available in general medicine with 922 seats, followed by 620 seats in Anesthesia and 500 seats in general surgery. For 2-year diploma courses, more seats are added to the pediatrics branch followed by anesthesia and ophthalmology.

However, medical students claimed that some of the government colleges are missing from the seat matrix released by the MCC for the all-India quota. The MCC said that these seats will be added soon. A total of 335 seats have been deducted from the All India quota seats.

NEET PG exam commenced in July and the result was released on August 2 the choice filling process started recently. The choice filling link will be available till November 17, 2024. Candidates who wish to fill the choice can go to the MCC official website – mcc.nic.in.

The process of seat allotment will start from November 18 to November 19, 2024 and Round 1 result will be released on November 20, 2024. Candidates will have to tjoing the allotted institute from November 21 to November 27, 2024.
