Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the NIRF 2024, India Rankings for all the categories today, August 12, 2024. The NIRF ranking lists will be available on the NIRF’s official website, nirfindia.org. The announcement event was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
IIT Madras ranked as the top-ranked higher education institute in the country followed by Indian Institute of Science (Bengaluru), IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi.
The NIRF ranking lists is released for 13 different categories which include universities, colleges, research institutions, engineering, pharmacy, medical, dental law, architecture and planning, agriculture and allied sectors and innovation.
A core committee constructed the methodology for ranking institutes set up by the MHRD to identify the broad parameters for ranking various institutes and universities. The institutes are ranked on parameters such as teaching, learning, resources, research and professional practice, outreach and inclusivity, graduation outcome and perception.
Under the university categories Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) topped the list and secure an overall 10th rank. Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) followed the JNU in terms of universities category.
The top ranks are taken over by IITs and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) came at the 7th position.
Among the research category, top rank is secured by IISc Bengaluru followed by IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur.
Under the agriculture and allied sector category IARI secure the rank 1 followed by ICAR, Punjab Agricultural University, BHU and IVRI.
