Laturn city assembly constituency in Maharashtra is going to witness a high-voltage electoral battle between the Congress and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates.. One of the high-profile candidates vying in the state is Archana Patil Chakurkar, the daughter-in-law of veteran Congress leader and former home minister Shivajirao Patil Chakurkar. Archana is contesting against the Congress candidate and sitting MLA Amit Deshmukh.

He was also a medical education minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Uddhav Thackeray. However, a rival candidate from the Congress household on a BJP ticket has made the seat unpredictable for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for November 20.
