Maharashtra: Amidst uncertainty over the next Maharashtra chief minister, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi questioned whether an oath-taking ceremony can take place without the governor’s invite or without submitting any letter to form the government.
The oath-taking ceremony for the new Maharashtra government will be held at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on Thursday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Shiv Sena leader asked, “When no one went to the Governor or submitted any letter proposing that they are in a position to form government and when the Governor has not invited anyone, how can they hold a oath-taking ceremony?”
Chaturvedi stated that the information regarding the ceremony was only shared by Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule in an X (formerly Twitter) post.
“Does this mean that all the functions of Governor are being done from BJP office?” questioned Chaturvedi.
On November 30, the state BJP president took to X and posted that the oath-taking ceremony of the Mahayuti government will be held on December 5 at 5 pm. Mahayuti allies include Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Previously, the Opposition also criticised the Mahayuti’s delay in announcing the chief minister. Shiv Sena leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray attacked the BJP-led alliance’s inability to choose a Chief Minister even after a week was an “insult” to Maharashtra.

Despite Shinde emphasising the Mahayuti alliance’s “big victory” under his leadership, the caretaker CM stated that his party will support the decision taken by PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Although no formal announcement has been made yet, speculations are rife that the next chief minister of the state will be Devendra Fadnavis while the Mahayuti allies are likely to get deputy CM positions.
