"Misleading": Priyanka Chaturvedi Slams India Today, Rahul Kanwal For Misusing Her Clip

News Director of Aajtak and India Today Rahul Kanwal has come under fire after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi called him and India Today out for turning a ‘one on one interaction’ into a debate, misleading people.

Taking to the social media platform X, Chaturvedi wrote, “I absolutely do not appreciate what you have done here.”

“I had recorded a one on one interaction with you and for you to now make it look like a face off is purely a fake attempt at a debate. I had even confirmed with your guest coordinator that this will not be done and was assured it won’t,” she stated.

India Today tweeted a video clip of over five minutes where Kanwal can be seen interviewing Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora about the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader can also be seen on the panel, nodding her head during the whole clip.

“And no @IndiaToday and @rahulkanwal I wasn’t nodding to anything spoken by another guest nor was I aware you’ll would make it look like I shared space with the guest because I don’t take lies easily or least of all nodding to brazen defence of a failed government. This is truly a letdown, besides it being misleading. Id appreciate an apology and a takedown of this tweet from the India Today handle and the segment showing this as some kind of a face off. Thank you,” Chaturvedi tweeted.

Several netizens called out the anchor for the same. “Classic Godi media at work—turning a respectful interaction into a staged debate for TRPs. Consent? Integrity? Nah, those are just speed bumps in their race for sensationalism. When will these outlets learn that manufactured narratives don’t equal journalism? someone needs to remind them that trust isn’t a prop for ratings,” said an X user.
