Congress To Participate In Rahul Kanwal Shows After The Journalist Meets Party Leadership

After News Director of Aajtak and India Today Rahul Kanwal met the Congress leadership to clarify his position on the matter pertaining to the debate on Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and dissociating himself from the views expressed by the BJP spokesperson on that occasion, the party has decided to restart participating in his shows.

Rahul Kanwal has, according to Congress leader Pawan Khera, met the party president Mallikarjun Kharge, the general secretary in charge of media and communications Jairam Ramesh and the chairman, media, communications and publicity.

“Mr Rahul Kanwal met the Honourable Congress President, the General Secretary Media, Communications and Publicity and the Chairman, Media, Communications and Publicity to clarify his position on the matter pertaining to the debate on Late Smt Indira Gandhi and Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and dissociating himself from the obnoxious views expressed by the BJP spokesperson on that occasion. Having heard his point of view, we think it is time to move on and start participating in his shows,” Pawan Khera wrote in a social media post.

 

The controversy erupted during a TV show managed by Kanwal in which a BJP spokesperson made offensive remarks about former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, causing disappointment among the Congress party members. Following the remark, as a journalist who ran the show, Kanwal faced criticism, noting that he could have intervened and properly managed the debate, leading the party to boycott the show.

However, with the journalist approaching the Congress leadership distancing himself from the BJP spokesperson’s view, and clarifying his stance, the leadership, the Congress informed it would start participating in his shows.
