What began as a debate on news channel Times Now Navbharat ended up being a verbal clash between journalist and former politician Ashutosh and author Anand Ranganathan on live television. The debate was being moderated by anchor and journalist Navika Kumar.
During the live debate on the topic of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal being granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case, the discussion switched to the panel, also including Tehseen Poonawalla, BJP member Radhika Khera, debating over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appearance at CJI DY Chandrachud’s residence during a Ganesh Chaturthi pooja.

Ranganathan questioned Ashutosh’s remark where he said that, as a journalist, he was free to go wherever he wished to go. The former repeated the statement, adding that the rule then applied to everyone. At this, Ashutosh interjected and expressed his disapproval of Ranganathan’s “personal comments or tone” used against him throughout the debate.
Things soon turned ugly with both the individuals shouting at each other while others, including Poonawalla and Kumar, tried to calm the situation down. Ashutosh moved towards Ranganathan but was stopped by others.
The journalist said, “Constantly he is commenting on me, this idiot of the first order,” and the author snapped back, “Stop shouting, I am not your dad.” Ranganathan went further and called Ashutosh “farzi journalist” and “sold out stooge.”

Another commented, “What is more shameful is that Times Now is recording this fight and posting it itself so that TRP can be taken. Have some Shame Navika Kumar ??”
Journalist Swati Chaturvedi tweeted, “So apparently even the “fight” in the “Kachra” “news channel” was a fake. Paid for TRP.”
