BJP, AAP National Leaders Join Congress

New Delhi, January 28: National Spokespersons of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party, besides a former Rajya Sabha member were among several people who joined the Congress here today.

They were inducted into the Congress by senior leader and Chairperson of the Media and Publicity Department, Pawan Khera and the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president, Akhilesh Prasad Singh.

Khera said that the joining of these leaders who represent both youth and experience would strengthen the Congress party. Besides, he added, these leaders had shown tremendous faith in the ideology and principles of the Congress.

Those who joined the party today included Ali Anwar Ansari, a former Rajya Sabha member, Nighat Abbas, who was national spokesperson of the BJP, Nishant Anand, National Spokesperson of the AAP, Bhagirath Manjhi, Manoj Prajapati, Padma Shri Dr Jagdish Prasad and Frank Huzur.

Speaking on the occasion Ms Nighat Abbas said that she was disappointed and dismayed over what was happening in the BJP. She referred to the ‘Batenge to Katenge’, slogan, pointing out how members of one particular community were being targeted and made to feel like second class citizens in the country.
She said those raising the slogan, ‘sab ka sath, sab ka vikas aur sab ka vishwas’ hardly believed in it. She said she looked forward with great hope towards the inclusive politics of the Congress that believes in ‘sath rahenge to mazboot rahenge’.

Former MP Ali Anwar Ansari said that the minorities, the Dalits and the downtrodden see hope in Rahul Gandhi who has been espousing their cause and highlighting their plight. He said, Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to Constitution has caused panic among certain political parties like the BJP and the Janata Dal-United in Bihar and enthused sections of the society.
