The Bharatiya Janata Party has given tickets to Shivmangal Singh Tomar from Morena-Sheopur constituency. The former MLA expressed his gratitude for receiving ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election by distributing sweets and garlanding pictures of great men in the party office.
Tomar gave the slogan of “beyond 400”, indicating that BJP will win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha, after the upcoming election, which is set to begin on April 19 this year. Reportedly, while expressing his happiness in receiving ticket to contest, he took a jibe at the opposition and said that the opposition parties’ job is to “do evil, which they are doing well”. He said the opposition do not have a leader or leadership.
Tomar, claimed that even “an innocent worker” in BJP gets a chance to lead in the party and every worker in BJP is dedicated to the party. He said, “therefore, on the strength of the workers and the policies of Modi government, we will win more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha”.
Tomar contested in election for the first time from Dimani, during 2008 assembly election. He won the election and became the MLA, by defeating Ravindra Singh Tomar of Congress with a margin of mere 256 votes. However, in the 2013 assembly election, he faced a massive defeat against BSP and he lost to Congress’ Girraj Dandotia in 2018 assembly election.
The Morena-Sheopur Lok Constituency covers Sheopur and Moren districts of Madhya Pradesh. The major parties contesting are Congress and BJP. Congress is yet to reveal the name of its candidate from the constituency.
