BJP”s controversial MLA T Raja Singh said on Thursday that if the BJP does not win in the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, the party will emerge as a strong opposition. Mr Raja is a party”s candidate from Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad.

“The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party conspired with leaders of the Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)”, the outgoing legislator accuses. He then adds that BRS persuaded around “17,000 bogus votes” in the constituency making it a fight between the BJP and MIM. Mr Singh is contesting against BRS” Nanda Kishore Vyas and Congress” Mogili Sunitha.

When he was asked as some of the surveys are not predicting saffron party forming the government in Telangana, “We are hopeful that we will form the government. By any chance if we cannot form the government, the BJP will become a strong opposition,” PTI quotes as he is saying.

Began his political career in Telugu Desam Party, Mr Singh joined BJP in 2014. In last year August, he was suspended by the party over his alleged controversial remarks against “Islam and Prophet Mohammed” in a video, and in last month his suspension was revoked. He is infamous for his hate speeches particularly targeting Muslim community.

Telangana will go to polls on November 30. The 119 assembly constituencies will witness a strong fight between BRS and Congress. Currently Telangana is ruled by K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS government. In 2018 Assembly election, BRS retained power by winning 88 seats and securing a dominant vote share of 47.4 per cent.
