Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly referred as KCR, attacked Congress on Monday alleging that the grand old party party endorses only three hours of power supply to Telangana farmers and points abolition of “Dharani” land records management system brought by his government. KCR is also the Chief Minister of Telangana since its formation in 2014, and he is fighting for his third term in the upcoming Assembly elections.
KCR who restarted his election campaign after Deepavali break, claims that his government has handled issues concerning power supply, and water even after securing power for the first time in 2014, in the then new state of Telangana. “They (Congress leaders) say they will throw “Dharani” into Bay of Bengal, “Rythu Bandhu” is wasteful expenditure. More dangerously, they say 24-hour power supply is unnecessary, KCR is wasting the funds and three-hour power supply is enough,” Chief Minister said.
Mr Rao who addressed election rallies at Telangana”s Aswaraopet and Burgampadu said that the integrated land records management system, called “Dharani” launched by BRS government facilitated direct benefit transfer to farmers under welfare schemes.
“This irresponsible Congress party that has no sympathy for farmers is talking about abolishing “Dharani”. If “Dharani” is removed, then how will you get money under “Rythu Bandhu”. They are not answering when I am asking,” he said. Mr Rao then adds that quashing of “Dharani” scheme would result in farmers going around government offices, and also return of middlemen into the system.
He further alleges the Telangana Congress Chief A Revanth Reddy promotes only three hours of power supply to farmers opposing to his government”s 24-hour supply.
KCR has also underlined BRS-led government”s welfare schemes, which includes social security pensions, supply of tapped drinking to household under “Mission Bhagiradha” and also his party”s election guarantees such hike in benefits under various initiatives.
Telangana will go to booths on November 30. The 119 assembly constituencies will witness a strong fight between BRS and Congress. The counting of the votes will take place on December 3.
