Congress Confident Of INDIA Bloc Getting Decisive Mandate

New Delhi, May 31: The Congress today asserted that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) was headed for a decisive mandate on June 4 when the votes will be counted.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here today, Congress general secretary in charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, chairman of the Media and Publicity Department Pawan Khera and Chairperson of the Social Media and the Digital Platforms, Supriya Shrinate said that the people of the country identified with the party’s issue based campaign, which did not breach any limits of political decency.

Ramesh disclosed that during the 77 days of the electoral process, the party had lodged 117 complaints with the Election Commission of India, which included 14 complaints against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 8 against the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 3 against the union Home Minister Amit Shah, besides other leaders of the BJP.

He said the ECI did not act on any of the complaints against the PM, the HM and the UP CM. The complaints, he said, were to the violations of the Model Code of Conduct, Representation of People’s Act and various decisions of the Supreme Court of India.

The Congress general secretary said that the Congress party’s agenda and narrative was focused on positive things and it was well appreciated and acknowledged by the people of the country.

Ramesh said, the ‘Paanch Nyaay’ with 25 guarantees, which included ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Nari Nyay’, ‘Kisan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Baghidari Nyay’ touched the chord with the masses.

He said, the party’s focus on saving and protecting the constitution with Rahul Gandhi carrying a copy of the constitution and emphasising its importance was also liked much by the people across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Khera said, while PM Modi based his campaign on words starting from ‘M’ alphabet like the Muslims, Mangalstura, Machhli and Mutton, the Congress kept its focus on ‘N’ alphabet- Nyay and revolved its campaign around ‘Paanch Nyay’ with 25 guarantees.

Supriya Shrinate spelt out the digital and social media strategy of the party, which was many times more successful than the BJP’s. She gave some comparative figures like the overall reach on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

She disclosed that the total views of the Congress party were four times more than those of the BJP on YouTube. While the Congress got 613 million views during the entire campaign, the BJP got just one-fourth with 150 million only.

She observed that people tended to identify and relate with the issues raised by the Congress party as they concerned them directly, like inflation or unemployment.
