After several discussion among the members of INDIA alliance, the Dahod seat of Gujarat was allotted for Congress to contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party then decided to field Prabhaben Taviad for the election. Taviad has been with Congress since 1983, during which she was the member of district Congress committee of Dahod and Panchmahal district. Taviad wears many hats. Apart from bring a politician, she is the first Adivasi Gynecologist of Gujarat.

Taviad was the member of the Executive Committee of the Youth Congress from 1985 to 1992. She also served as the Chairperson of District Women Security Center-Dahod and Panchmahal and has been a member of Gujarat State Women Security Advisory Committee during the same period. Taviad served as the Vice President of All India Women”s Congress from 2006.

She entered into the election arena for the first time in 2004, as Congress gave her ticket from Dahod itself. However, she lost to BJP”s Babubhai Khimabhai Katara over the margin of 361 votes. In 2009, Congress again fielded Taviad against BJP”s Somjibhai Damor, who has served as the Dahod MP from 1977 to 1998. Taviad marked a historic victory against Damor over the margin of 58,536 votes.

After gaining ticket, Taviad hit at the BJP government. While speaking at the office of the Dahod District Congress Committee meeting, she listed out the shortcomings of the BJP government. She pointed out the insufficient staff in hospitals, exploitation of workers, who re working 12 hours a day in hospitals, shortage of teachers in schools, availability of water for the farmers, and so on. Citing the unemployment among the youth in the country, she said Congress would provide jobs to the unemployed.
